POW team met with the partners at 8.15 at hotel and reached to the
French school after a 15-minute-walk.
Visit of Nursery School
After the coffee break, POW team visited with a tour to primary school
and kindergarten.
All the classes in the ground
floor are communicated with the middle garden by a big door. All the classes in school are very spacious and get sunlight. Class sizes are
not so crowded. The average number of students in each class is 15-20. There are taps, washbasins in corridor for
cleaning hands or for drinking water. A
class photo of all students and teachers of each class is hung in each door of
classes . The activities made by students are exhibited in both classrooms and
corridors.
We could listen the songs that
students had prepared for us at school and students gave our name badges in
classrooms. The interest and love of children were worth to see.
The part of the school that
secondary school age children was also very close to primary school. In order
not to disturb students who had examination in secondary school, we could not
observe lessons at secondary part but we could visit the school in small
groups.
We visited the classrooms
that vocational education is
carried. Departments like sewing,
cooking, bulding were interesting. There were 6-7 students in those vocational
classes.
We had lunch at school and at 13.30 in the afternoon we
watched the traditional children games of Slovak and Polish teams. Then we
played together. You can also watch the traditional games that our Polish and Slovak teams have prepared for us. Here you can see the Polish game.

At 15.30 we had an excursion to
Bordeaux city center and at 17.00 we attended a reception organized at
municipality. There were small gifts and invitations.
We had
dinner at city center. City is not so big. It is formed by parallel streets and
quite regular. Transportation is provided with tramways that are eco-friendly
and that do not damage environment. Autobuses are used in intercity transport.
11th of February,
Wednesday
We met at school
at 9.00 in the morning and we reached to Bassin d'Arcachon which is one hour
far by bus. Bay of Arcachon is the most important touristical place of
Bordeaux. We had a boat trip for one hour. This area is remarkable with high
tides-low tides. Oyster beds and island of birds were very interesting.
We have been to Dune edu Pilat which is the highest dune in
Europe in the afternoon. An enormous dune beside ocean! Absolutely wonderful!
12th of February, Thursday
At 9.00, we have been to Modern
Art Museum by going across by river-bus over River Garonne that divides the
city into two. It was an historical museum. An old, stone building that was
built as a storage for safekeeping the goods of traders and that was transformed
inyo museum afterwards. There was an exhibition which was organized by shapes
that are formed by woven goods. It is stated that the concept is being changed
at times.
At the end of the visit to
museum, we have been to village Saint Emilion which is 20 minutes far away by
bus and to Wine Castle which is also very close. Here, it is stated that ground
is very important for high-quality wine and as the water of river Garonne
irrigates the ground and because of the clay, the grapes and the wine is qualified
in this region. The ground where the grapes are grown is qualified because of
the geographical traits of Bordeaux. That’s why the wine of Bordeaux is famous.
The vineyards that were belonging to the same family for approximately six ages
were worth to see.
There was a farewell part at schoolin the evening. There
were teachers, families, students and some authorities from national
educational directorate at the party.
Au Revoir!
